Y'know What I Like?

Gallery mode. Yep, gallery mode is awesome. I'm sure the standard view for shops on etsy is list mode, because that's what it always reverts to on my computer. List mode is fine in its own way, you can see all of the title at least... But it's just not as pretty as gallery mode. :)

Here's a quick snapshot of my shop in gallery mode!

Pretty, no?  :)

Gemstone stacks...

I've been wanting for a while to introduce a range of gemstone jewellery to my shop that is both luxurious and very affordable, and I've finally got some of the photography done...

I love these little gemstone rondelles, they are perfect to stack up on headpins for a sizeable yet affordable gemstone hit! :)
I got quite carried away with them and I've made a ton of earrings in different colours and colour combinations on both silver and gold... It's going to take ages to list them all!

I especially like these garnet earrings, they look very Christmassy! :)

And some more champagne citrine... (November's birthstone!) I love the pale sandy golden colour of these stones...

Mmm, Swarovski...

The photography has been progressing ok lately, although I've still got a long way to go... I bought some Swarovski briolettes a while back which I wrapped in multiple layers of silver - some of which got photographed today... Here is a sneak preview before they hit the shop! :)

I've also posted this to my facebook fan page - don't forget to become a fan to find out about secret sales and special deals! ;)

Pink & Grey...

Just wanted to share this beautiful treasury with you... It was curated by GoodLookinTreasures who was kind enough to feature my earrings, and you can find it here (until it expires).

I Hear Social Networking is the New Life...

So I've finally done it. I've been meaning to get round to it for ages, but never seemed to find the time. I am now the proud owner of a facebook page! I'll be making a page for each of my shops, but for now I'm concentrating on my jewellery shop. It takes so long! :p

Please become my fan! If you do you will be rewarded with secret sales and discounts for fans only, and you'll get to see some sneak previews too! :)

A Peek At Some Of My Favourites...

Neglect-o-rama! Yep, I haven't posted in a month. I'm still trying to finish all the photography I've got left - there's at least 100 pieces of jewellery sitting and waiting to be photographed so they can be listed! :p  Plus, November has brought me crappy light, which is not helping...

Anyway, in the meantime, here's a look at some of the beautiful things I have stuffed into my favourites list lately. Enjoy!

Photography is hard...

Making things is easy. I like making things. But it turns out that in order to sell them, I need to photograph them... It's not that I don't know how to use my camera, I know all about the white balance, ISO settings, f-stops and so on, it's just that when I point it at the things I've made and click the picture takey button (I'm all about the technical terms), what shows up on the screen is not what I'd hoped for... I've taken literally thousands of photos that I've ended up discarding because they just weren't good enough. Sometimes I wonder if I'm just being too picky... :p  Maybe I should stop looking through other people's shops with green eyed envy at their seemingly perfect photos!

Here's one I took today, not sure if I'll use this one or not as it's got a lot of dead space in it, but I quite like the softness and the colours in it, it reminds me of snow...

I've spent the last couple of days photographing some of the new jewellery I've made recently, but as per usual I'm not so happy with most of the pictures... I'll be starting again in the morning and spending another day on it! :p  I'm hoping to have a complete overhaul of my jewellery shop done in the next week or so, I've also made a new shop banner which I like much better than the old one...

Hopefully I will soon be more satisfied with my shop!  :)  I'm trying to concentrate on getting the more autumnal jewellery listed first, and some of the opal jewellery as it's October's birthstone. Here are some pumpkin looking earrings I took new photos of today:

Lots more work to do yet, I'll post again soon with some updates, or possibly more crankiness, depending on how it goes...  Please feel free to fill the comment section with any photography related crankiness of your own you may have!  (Or helpful tips!)  ;)

Oops!

There's been some serious blog neglect going on here! Sorry! I'm back on track again now, so expect more regular posting... In the meantime, to make up for it, here's some pictures of a very sleepy cat indeed... :)

Thank you Cleo, for your highly entertaining yawns!

Knitting, Tea & Rodney...

Yep, that's all you need for a wet & windy Saturday.  A nice hot drink, some easy knitting and Stargate Atlantis (aka the Rodney show). :)

So that's my Saturday. Anyone else doing anything fun? Let me know...

My room looks very cold and blue here, but that's just the poor lighting from the grey and cold skies (coupled with a slightly overexposed shot, sorry!) it's nice and cozy really. :) And it doesn't usually feature oddly arranged furniture either; I turned the TV around so I could see it from my desk while I was making jewellery the other day, but today I felt like knitting and couldn't be bothered to drag it back around (it's heavy!) so I dragged the chair across the room instead.  (No, I'm not lazy, I'm energy efficient...)

Sorry for the randomness of this post! I am sleepy... :p

Embracing Your Feminine Side...

As mentioned in my last post, I am currently attempting to embrace my feminine side a little more! I spent far too much time in my teens wearing baggy black band t-shirts and sneering at pink... Etsy helps remind me every day that it's ok to like pink!

Here you see a very fine example of why pink is good: oh for spring to come again - a stunningly beautiful print by Carl of buckscountyframes. I love this print, and may well be buying one when I have some spare cash again! Please visit Carl's shop and check out the beautiful environmentally friendly frames...

A Gorgeous Front Page!

Just wanted to share this front page with you today, I love all the items from this gorgeous collection chosen by Agnes of KnockKnocking... I was never a huge fan of pink before I joined etsy, but I'm learning to love it more every day!  :)  I have to say am a bit biased towards this collection because Agnes has included my bracelets (thank you!) but I would love this regardless.  Yay for embracing my feminine side! :)

Tropical Bedroom...

I can't remember where I found this picture now, but isn't it a fantastic bedroom? I love these colours... I'd probably never paint my own room in these colours (mine is a sort of soft duck egg blue), but I do love this picture!

Ethereal...

I absolutely love this print by Lori411, I'm sure I've seen it on the front page a few times now, and I've put it in my favourites list every time!  It's so soft and ethereal, like a dreamy blend of winter and spring...

Welcome!

Hello! Welcome to my new blog! :)

A while ago I started up a different blog, one related to one of my etsy shops. I started it with the idea that I would use it to promote my shop and the jewellery I make. A great idea in theory, but who wants to read someone's advertising? Not me! I didn't even want to write it... That's where I realised my mistake - instead of keeping a blog that is essentially a tool for promotion, I should keep a blog that I actually like! Seems like a no-brainer really, but I think it's easy as a seller to get carried away with trying to be successful, and to forget to actually enjoy yourself...

So here we go with a new start! I will post some news from my shops as well, but mostly it will just be filled with random things that I like. I hope you like them too!  :)

Mr P welcomes you!
